Dhyaanamoolam Gurur Moorthihi Meaning: The Guru’s form is the best to meditate upon; the Guru’s feet are the best for worship; the Guru’s word is the mantra; the Guru’s Grace is the root of liberation. The full moon day or purnima falls in the month of Ashada and this year it falls on 12 July 2014. This day is very significant and auspicious to the followers of Guru. The syllables gu mean ‘darkness’ and ru mean ‘destroyer’, thus meaning “one who destroys/dispels darkness”)is a guru. A guru is one who has proficiency of all Vedas and has digested the knowledge of self realisation. Guru’s mere glance showers love, mercy and His touch removes our sins. Guru is also astrologically significant. Jupiter in Sanskrit is known as Brahaspati or Guru. Jupiter is considered as a benefic planet bestowing luck and fortune. Jupiter rules religion, philosophy and spirituality. Worshiping Jupiter bestows wealth, progeny fame, success, honor and good relationship. Jupiter also bring benefits to whatever planets or house in the natal chart it is associated with. The favourite colour of Jupiter is yellow and his direction is North East.
